Northern Lights, Rose Cousins, The Good Lovelies, and Lisa Patterson

Just finished up a terrific project for Northern Lights Canada – a series of ‘Success Stories,’ interviews with employees with special needs and their employers. It was a real treat to work on such a positive pr
oject, and an interesting challenge to do all the subtitling as well. I’m happy it came out so well, and I hope it can be used to promote the programs to other employers, who may not realize that it’s easy to accommodate special needs employees and that it’s a terrific, untapped workforce.
We screened the videos as part of an employer appreciation evening; you can see a photo from the projection booth to your right. Sometimes, you wish an audience would just squish together a little more to make the shot better, y’know? The evening went off well, though we had some technological glitches that I regret. I just always want it to be perfect. In any event, I’m very proud of the video I produced!
Over the weekend, I had two great shoots – Thursday November 6 was Rose Cousins and The Good Lovelies at the Gordon Best Theatre, one of the best venues in Canada, and Friday November 7 was Lisa Patterson’s CD release party at Toronto’s Heliconian Club, another gorgeous venue. Both shows had packed houses, but listening audiences, so the footage is great.
It’s always a pleasure to shoot live music – it has its challenges, for certain, but it’s also very rewarding. I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t just sit and enjoy music anymore – I’d rather be shooting.
