It will interest you to know that the City has to construct a new trunk sanitary sewer down Bethune Street in the Downtown. Furthermore, Bethune Street is the engineering consultant's preferred route for the Jackson Creek flood diversion sewer. With City Council's approval, the idea would be to construct these two major infrastructure items at the same time, which could also involve a complete renewal for the street. A trail would also be part of the plan, linking the Trans Canada Trail at Brock Street to the Crawford Trail Extension at Bethune Street's south end.

Me too! I've been kind-of obsessed with it for about two years - and I have visions of what it could become, because there's lots of room there for smart growth. I have a lot of faith in the City's planners and I know they're really invested in making downtown Peterborough awesome, so I'm not too worried about commercial development. I'll keep writing about it, because i can't stop thinking about it!

Great project! I think Bethune is one of the most fascinating streets in the downtown core and I live close to it. It seems very run down towards the city core, and the artery of some nefarious street enterprise, but with the creek crossing it, its proximity to bike paths and an industrial feel, I think it has personality and tons of potential, especially as the Hunter Street arts district grows. I only hope it doesn't fall victim to some heartless commercial development that doesn't understand the importance of Bethune to the flow of the city. Thanks for giving it some attention.

You know, this is a conversation that every parent should have with their kids anyway, regardless if they're male or female - if it takes 'Twilight' to do that, then 'Twilight' is awesome. I got this talk from my Dad but I'm one of the few women in my social circle that did.

The reason I don't really understand the vitriol leveled at these films though is mainly because most rom-coms and romantic dramas are pretty off-putting to me, just from the trailers/premises. Sometimes I find them more offensive (cos I do remember the 1st time I fell in love and it was INTENSE, so a part of me gets the appeal of Ed & Bella). It's seems that movies right now are about A-List actresses running around looking for sperm - any sperm!! - or they're Manic Pixie Dream Girls (they'll change your life in crazy ways, Leading Man!) or the classic 'I Wanna Get Marrrrried Right Now!!!! Watch my hilarious attempts to get a man to the altar!' flicks. Ugh.

Huh. I've only seen the 1st movie but after writing the above, it doesn't seem so bad now. ;-)

Hi, I came across this thread and quite enjoyed it. Having acted as both artist and talent buyer it is nice to see another buyer opening the door to conversation about all the above. I cant help but endorse your sentiments in treating every single person on a festival site with the same respect, be it the merch person or parking lot attendant. Programming a free festival is tough, and having played yours in the past years ago it is good to see it surviving still. Too many come and go. Best of luck with your last year!

surprised i haven'tread this yet....good points. don't take any shit from those prima donna/ delicate orchids. i've been turned down for lots of gigs. I've also played hundreds more. I don't bitch about not receiving responses, i understand the amount of submissions promoters/booking agents/bar owners deal with all the time....it's unfortunate that most of the aforementioned i've worked with aren't as professional as you are...thanks again for the great read.

A really great group of people with a large range of backgrounds which reflected the characters admirably. And a long, demanding script. All leading to a performance that was as unique as it was enjoyable.
Also: not enough pictures of Charlotte.
